Join us for a webinar to learn how educators are incorporating reality capture into the classroom to improve student outcomes. Reality capture tools such as drones are both incredibly engaging educational tools, and also career opening across disciplines. We’ll hear from professors who have incorporated reality capture into their education programs and how they are using these tools to drive student success. We'll discuss how to get started teaching with these tools and what resources DroneDeploy provides.

  • Hear stories from educators on how they have built drone education programs from the ground up.
  • Discuss how to overcome challenges including gaining institutional buy-in and approval.

Speakers

Dr. Becca Fenwick
Director, CITRIS Initiative for Drone Education and Research, UC Santa Cruz

Dr. Becca Fenwick is developing the CITRIS Initiative for Drone Education and Research (CIDER) at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This program brings together diverse students, researchers, and industry partners from many sectors to fuel research and innovation and develop a diverse drone workforce. She and the CIDER Team are working closely with UCSC partners, Hartnell Community College, Digital Nest, Monterey Bay DART, and many other regional partners to develop multiple pathways to develop the varied drone and automation workforce that will be needed around the region. Working with drones unites Fenwick’s varied skill sets: her geospatial expertise from a marine geology and geophysics doctorate from Scripps Institution of Oceanography UC San Diego, her land conservation expertise from almost a decade as a reserve director for the UC Natural Reserve System, and her 15 years of environmental IT, tech and sensor network experience as the director of environmental IT for the UC Natural Reserve System.

Joe Burgett
Associate Professor, Clemson University

Joe “Dr. Drone” Burgett is a tenured faculty member in the Nieri Family Department of Construction Science and Management at Clemson University. He has been in university-level academics since 2010 and teaches both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. By trade, Dr. Burgett is a General Contractor and has spent many years teaching online courses for the trade unions. He currently serves as the President and Director of the South Carolina Interagency Drone Users Consortium (SCiDUC). SCiDUC is the state’s only 501c3 nonprofit drone association exclusive to South Carolina government agencies.

Kevin Molloy
Academic Partnerships , Procore

Kevin Molloy is a Sr. Social Impact Outreach Specialist for Procore.org, Procore's social impact team, where he works with universities, colleges, and K-12 programs to donate Procore’s construction management platform.
